Description

Abstract
This study reviewed the marketing process used in providing chemical fertilizer to farmers in Nigeria with a view to determining whether the government intervention policy has impacted positively on the productivity of the agricultural sector. The study revealed that the supply of the product was poorly timed. The supplied quantity was inadequate and the retail price was high. These are indicators that marketing of the product is inefficient and as such cannot contribute meaningfully to the economic development of the nation. The study suggested strategies for ensuring efficient distribution of chemical fertilizer as well as generally improving productivity of the farmers(s).
